Wedding hair preparation - how to care + Prep your hair For your wedding day!

As your big day draws closer, it’s time to start considering what needs to be done so that you have the perfect hair for your special day. Here are some tips you should be doing to achieve beautiful, shiny and healthy hair in the lead up to the wedding.

3 Months Prior - HAIR CARE, Great hair requires a little love and devotion. If you want your hair to look good, you first have to start repairing from the inside out. Vitamin deficiency can cause dull and brittle hair and no one wants that on their wedding day! Taking a few supplements will make those difficult strands a thing of the past.Zinc is good for your hair as well as your nails and skin. Food such as oysters, nuts, chicken and yoghurt are full of zinc (or you can take a supplement!). I also recommend eating food rich in Vitamin B, such as avocados, nuts, spirulina, eggs and quinoa. Vitamin B is responsible for keeping your hair thick and can help it grow and will prevent it from breaking.

3 Months Prior - HAIRCUT, If you’re desperate to grow your hair before the big day, it’s recommended that you get a haircut – and keep getting them every 6-8 weeks. This will ensure that you don’t have any split ends at your wedding, helping you avoid that terrible frizzy look that no bride wants. The more breakage and split ends you cut off now, the less you will have to cut off right before your wedding.

3 Months Prior - HAIR PROTECTION, It’s important to invest in a good shampoo and conditioner. You should be avoiding shampoos and conditioners with harsh chemicals that damage your hair and leave it looking dry and dull.

3 Months Prior - HAIR TRIAL, I highly recommend A hair trial should be done 2-3 months prior to your wedding. This will confirm that style, colour and length and will help you get on track to achieving the look that you want.

1 Months Prior - HAIRCUT, By this stage, your hair trials should be done however you should see your hair stylist for a trim so that you can be rid of any split ends. Don’t make any drastic changes to your hair – now is not the time for an impulse fringe!

2 Weeks Prior - DEEP CONDITIONING, If you’ve decided to wear your hair down or half-up, you’ll want your hair looking as healthy as possible. Treat yourself to an in-salon deep conditioning treatment. These treatments don’t just coat the hair they actually push much-needed nutrients further into the hair follicles, restoring moisture. If you’re wearing your hair up you can skip the treatment, your hair is easier to work with when it’s more textured.

Wedding day - STYLING, You should wash your hair the night before your wedding (not the day of), as the oils will help the style you have chosen hold better. Make sure to blow dry the hair not sleep on wet hair. It would be a good idea to put a root lifting product before drying the hair to add extra volume.
